Artist Statement
The process of making art involves 2 things. 1) Having a vision or desire to create an image expressing how I feel about the subject and 2) The skills and experience necessary to accomplish this goal.
Each enterprise involves learning, painting and drawing "mileage" , gathering info and source material, while studying artists of the past and present. The process is truly a 24-hour job. When I'm not actively painting or drawing, I'm thinking about the visual world in artistic terms, often using the principles of design and elements of art.
I try to push the limits of the medium I choose (as well as respecting it's limitations) and engage my inner artistic soul in dialogue that I'm constantly learning to speak and understand. Hopefully I translate my vision and feelings to others who then embark on their own journey to their "art center" and their own inner dialogue.
